Supervising Child Support Specialists*. Supervising Child Support Specialists* supervise Child Support Specialists, Child Support Assistants, and support staff in locating parents, conducting interviews, and applying holistic case management principles in looking at all aspects of a child support case to ensure we are meeting the needs of the family when establishing and enforcing child support payments. Supervising Child Support Specialists also coordinate, review, and evaluate the work of staff, and handle the most complex child support cases.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: Travel throughout the County and State may be required. Employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation. Mileage reimbursement may be available.
Pre-employment Process: Applicants must pass a background investigation, including DOJ/FBI clearance, credit check, physical examination and drug test, prior to appointment.
Work Assignment: Applicants must be willing to accept assignment, as needed , to any of the DCSS offices, which are located in Loma Linda, Victorville, Ontario, and Child Support Court in San Bernardino.

Minimum RequirementsApplicants must meet one of the following qualifying options:
OPTION 1: Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public/Business Administration, Administration of Justice, Behavioral/Social Science, English, Math, Humanities or closely related field.
-AND-Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience as a
Child Support Specialist I in a county agency overseen by a State Department of Child Support Services.
OPTION 2: Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework from an accredited college or university in Public/Business Administration, Administration of Justice, Behavioral/Social Science, English, Math, Humanities or closely related field.
-AND-Experience: Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience as a
Child Support Specialist I in a county agency overseen by a State Department of Child Support Services.
OPTION 3: Education: No college coursework required.
-AND-Experience: Four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience as a
Child Support Specialist II (lead Child Support position) in a county agency overseen by a State Department of Child Support Services.
IMPORTANT NOTES: - Child Support Specialist Trainee and general childcare experience is not considered qualifying.
- Transcripts must be submitted with the application if the candidate does not possess an associate's degree or higher in one of the qualifying fields of study mentioned above.
- Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate is a person who fosters teamwork; has excellent organizational and time management skills; utilizes critical thinking and problem solving; finds innovative ways to achieve the department's goals; is able to effectively plan, prioritize, execute work, and has excellent communication skills. Leadership skills are highly desirable.
