    The Position

    Project Managers perform professional services in planning, coordinating, directing and managing the activities of construction projects and capital improvement programs; develop design concepts; determine cost estimates and budgets; negotiate reviews and modify contracts, agreements, architectural/engineering plans, specifications, and schedules as appropriate.

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

    The incumbent is responsible for managing assigned statewide capital improvement projects and sustain, modernization, and restoration projects on behalf of the Nevada Department of the Military. The incumbent will perform duties including project development, schematic design through permitting/bid documents, construction from advertising through construction and project closeout. Tasks will include but are not limited to preparation of work programs; participation in the design process; preparation of bid documents, specification & project estimates; developing consultant Requests for Proposals; and consultant selection and consultant contract management. The incumbent is also responsible for construction administration; processing project addenda; conducting bid openings; contract writing; processing billings, change orders & submittals; inspections of projects for compliance with approved plans, specifications, federal standards and related codes; and providing technical assistance for staff.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Licensure as an Architect or as a Professional Engineer. Two years of the experience required for licensure must have included coordinating major construction projects and/or capital improvement programs involving the construction of public buildings, office complexes, and other structures. Special Notes For Project Manager III and Project Manager II positions, licensure as an Architect or Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Any person licensed as an Architect or Professional Engineer in another jurisdiction must become licensed in Nevada within 12 months following the date of appointment. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
