    The Position

    Retail Storekeepers perform merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail store or e-Commerce environment which includes canteen stores and coffee shops in correctional facilities and other State retail operations.

    This position is located at Valley of Fire State Park, approximately 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas, near Overton, NV. Valley of Fire is an internationally known, high-visitation park, averaging more than 900,000 visitors per year. This position will be the on-site manager of Valley of Fire State Park's day-to-day gift shop operations and will serve as the direct supervisor of staff. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for scheduling and training all staff. Primary duties include operating and utilizing the Point of Sale (POS) system to process sales, managing physical inventory, analyze sales data, receive merchandise, and balance received orders to packing slips. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring market trends to ensure the merchandise is stocked, working directly with vendors to place orders of products and to create new site specific products, ensuring deposits are completed, performing physical inventory, and reviewing inventory reports to establish the appropriate price mark up on merchandise. This position will ensure that the gift shop and the stockroom are kept clean and organized, with product displays being attractive and shopper friendly.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school and two years of storekeeping or retail experience, one year of which included performing physical inventories, maintaining records and ordering merchandise; OR one year of experience as a Retail Storekeeper I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Additional Position Criteria This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
