  • Job Description

    Introduction

    This position will oversee community special programs in Senior Services along with front line customer service and administrative work at the Granite Reef Senior Center.

    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $24.79/hour .

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • A high school diploma and/or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
    • Two years' customer service in a public, front line or social service agency.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted
    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
    Other pertinent licenses and or certifications may be required of some positions based on department/section assignment.

    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
    • Performs a wide variety of complex social service and customer service work involving requests for information, problem analysis, eligibility determination, program enrollment, complaint resolution, community outreach, cash handling (including collections, fees and/or deposits), reconciliation and the general delivery/explanation of the services and programming offered at the centers.
    • Under direct supervision, assists with performing intake, provides initial screening, conducts eligibility assessment and determines appropriate level of intervention. Accepts applications for financial services (at some locations).
    • Plans and coordinates citywide programs and activities which includes fund raising, building and maintaining donor groups and coordinating staff efforts from other Human Services Centers and outside agencies and companies.
    • Organizes and maintains electronic-based filing, which includes customer data and confidential client files.
    • Explains Human Services policies and operating procedures to clients.
    • Conducts presentations, creates spreadsheets, and completes complex reports and graphics using advanced computer skills.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, brokerage agencies, referral sources, community social services programs and the general public.


    Work Environment/Physical Demands

    • Work is performed in a city office environment.
    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a personal computer, related software, copy and facsimile machines and telephone that require continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movement.
    • Lift and carry food boxes and donated items and office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
    • Travel to/from meetings and various locations as required.
