    The Position

    Transportation Planner/Analysts participate in transportation system analysis, a continuing comprehensive and cooperative planning process, research programs or projects, safety programs and/or related functional areas as mandated by, and within the guidelines of, federal, State and local authorities; monitor, develop and implement State and federal funding and programming/planning requirements and ensure compliance with federal funding requirements.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

    This position is located in Carson City, NV within the Traffic Safety Engineering division. Responsibilities include researching and preparing statistical analysis for various crash data requests from departmental developmental programs, as well as state, private, and local agencies. A key task is determining spatially accurate crash locations that cannot be identified by automated methods, by interpreting crash record data and creating point locations in the geospatial environment. This position also involves reviewing Enforcement Mobile crash data for quality issues, performing queries to identify and correct any problems. Support is provided to TPA II in developing and producing descriptive statistics, graphs, and tables for crash data publications. This position requires creating and providing data to internal and external partners through applications such as crash reports and web-based maps. Data and analysis support are offered to Traffic Safety Engineering Analysts and other partners for larger crash data requests, such as for major corridors or multiple intersections. This role involves developing expertise in crash data, database querying, spatial analysis with GIS, and completing all necessary NDOT training.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, business administration, planning, math, geography, economics, statistics, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR graduation from high school and four years of experience collecting, compiling, analyzing and reviewing data and developing reports; OR four years of experience as a Transportation Technician II or three years of experience as a Transportation Technician III in Nevada State service. Special Requirements Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of application and for continuing employment.
