    The Position

    Rehabilitation Instructors assist blind and visually impaired clients in achieving employability, personal adjustment and maximum independence through training in alternative techniques of worksite functionality and daily living in clients work site, residence and in the community.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    This Rehabilitation Instructor is for the Older Individuals who are Blind (OIB) program. The incumbent provides essential services to individuals with visual impairments, focusing on delivering high-quality instruction, evaluations, and case management to help participants achieve their independent living and vocational goals. This role involves conducting timely eligibility determinations and assessments; evaluating participants' daily living skills; teaching on assistive devices; and collaborating with clients to create an individualized adjustment training plan tailored to their goals, strengths, and preferences. The Rehabilitation Instructor delivers training, while maintaining regular contact with participants and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and agency policies through accurate and timely documentation.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in rehabilitation teaching of the blind or closely related field and one year of professional experience training persons who are blind or visually impaired in alternative techniques of independent living and providing instruction in the use of low vision aids in a rehabilitation setting; OR one year of experience as a Rehabilitation Instructor I in Nevada State service. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
