Pay Range: $22.90/hr. - $28.62/hr.

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Thursday 7am - 5:30pm or Tuesday - Friday 7:am - 5:30pm, depending on business needs; Some evening/weekend work may be required.

A Journeyman Plumber job is available with the City of Fort Worth Property Management Department within its Facilities Division. The Facilities Division provides City Departments with world class facility planning, design, construction, renovation and maintenance services. The Division is seeking a qualified Commercial Plumber for maintenance and repair of City owned facilities. Candidates must have the ability to develop work plans and schedules for the provision of services in the assigned area, supervise work of unskilled personnel as appropriate, maintain appropriate records, write reports and prepare correspondence as assigned, establish and follow a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment, inspect and clean tools daily and order and maintain supplies according to established City and departmental procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in plumbing or related skilled trades experience
- Two years of increasingly responsible plumbing experience.
- Valid Class “C” Driver’s License
- Must pass Drug Screen and Physical
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial plumbing experience
The Journeyman Plumber job responsibilities include:
- Plans and participates in all phases of rough and finished plumbing work involved in construction, alteration, repair and maintenance.
- Installs pumps, hot water heaters and fuel storage tanks. Repairs or replaces team lines and cleans sewer lines.
- Repairs, designs and installs irrigation systems. Provides chemical treatment and preventative maintenance of pools, fountains, pumps and water feature facilities.
- Repairs and extends existing plumbing facilities.
- Replaces leaky faucets, washers and commodes.
- Knowledge of various types of plumbing materials: PVC, galvanized, copper, and or black pipe.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures of the plumbing trade.
Working Conditions
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. The position will require candidates to work from considerable heights and in confined spaces.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

Medical Program
The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.
The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.
The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Wellness Program
The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
