    The Department of Business and Industry's Division of Insurance is currently
    considering applicants for the position of Chief Deputy Commissioner. The Division
    is charged with protecting the rights of the consumer and the public's interest in
    dealing with the insurance industry and is responsible for regulating the insurance
    industry.

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Under the general direction of the Nevada Insurance Commissioner, the incumbent
    provides leadership and oversight of the Administrative, Product Compliance, and
    Self-Insured Workers Compensation sections of the Division. Responsibilities
    include working with section leadership to ensure that all required performance
    metrics and statutory requirements are being met. Act as a mentor to section leaders
    and ensure that they are building productive and respectful work cultures.
    Responsible for developing good working relationships with the regulated entities
    to understand current trends in the insurance markets. Supporting other state
    agencies - Staff and leadership work to support the Silver State Healthcare Exchange,
    the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy, the Division of Industrial
    Relations and other governmental agencies to advance the business of insurance in
    Nevada and protect Nevada consumers. Other Duties - This position may make
    presentations to Legislative committees during both sessions and interim periods of
    the Nevada Legislature. In addition, attendance at National Association of Insurance
    Commissioner (NAIC) meetings is required.

    Required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree with major course
    work in business administration, accounting, finance or related field and a minimum

    of three years of managerial experience and five years' experience in the insurance
    arena OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: This position will require knowledge of the
    Nevada Revised Statutes related to insurance regulation, in addition to knowledge
    of types of insurance, policy forms, and the regulation of insurance.
    Location: This position is located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
