About the Position:
Supervises and directs library functions in selected specialized library areas such as Circulation, Pages, and Interlibrary Loan/MAX service including hiring, training, and evaluating Circulation and Page staff. Duties include working at public service desks, evaluating and sharing knowledge of library policies and procedures, handling financial transactions accurately, evaluating patron records for accuracy, and approving requests for waiving fees.
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $30.13/hourly. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Three years of experience in library functions and coursework.
- Must have at least one year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements - Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
- Provides public service to Library customers at all public service points.
- Supports the creation of procedures and continually seeks to improve quality, productivity and effectiveness.
- Conducts regular meetings with staff and volunteers and provides input to Library management on issues that concern work unit procedures and policies.
- Interacts positively with staff to enhance effectiveness of work unit and internal customers and to promote productivity of work team.
- Provides customer service and resolves patron complaints or concerns relating to work unit policies and procedures.
- Keeps statistics and prepares detailed monthly and quarterly reports.
Work Environment/Physical Demands - Bend and stoop to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Shelve books using a small stepladder.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including copiers, telephones, fax machines, computers, credit card machine, and cash register that require repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Push carts.
- Operate library check in/out equipment (as described in Library Aide and Library Page description).
- Travel to/from meetings and various locations.
