Salary: up to $24.03/hour based on Education and Experience
Full Time /Part Time: Part Time
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
Primary Hours: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, 20 hours/week
Position Description: Analyze financial data regarding meeting the financial obligation of the agency by processing outstanding invoices for payment in a timely manner; confirming receipt of goods and services; recording funding information and invoice approvals. Position duties will also include responding to vendor inquiries and complaints in the appropriate and timely manner, and recoding expenditures within both Department of Health and Statewide Accounting Systems. This is the basic level of this job family where employees are primarily responsible for performing routine entry level technical accounting work in a training status to increase their skills in maintaining financial accounting data and preparing routine or standardized reports or other financial documents. In this role they will primarily be involved in work related to reviewing and processing documents such as expense vouchers, invoices, purchase orders and similar documents for simple errors and classifying, coding, and posting financial data to an established accounting system, preparing simple statements, schedules, statistical data and other information concerning financial operation, and performing related clerical duties in maintaining related files and records.
Duties:The functions performed by employees in this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:
- Maintains accounting records including ledgers, journals, registers, and individual accounts; classifies and codes revenues and expenditures for entry into appropriate accounting records.
- Reviews and reconciles various financial transactions; examines invoices, expense vouchers and other source documents to verify obligations and post appropriate records.
- Prepares financial reports, statements and schedules of standard design.
- Maintains files of source documents and other information related to accounting activities.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Other Duties- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.
Minimum Qualifications:One year of clerical, bookkeeping, or technical accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting completion of six semester hours in accounting or bookkeeping at an accredited college or university for each six months of the required experience or the completion of a vocational training course in accounting for the one year of experience.
Valued Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRequired to perform work at this level include knowledge of accounting procedures and terminology, of business arithmetic, and of modern office methods and procedures. Ability is required in the use of office equipment such as calculators, personal computers or computer keyboards, and copiers.
