    The Position

    Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and manage the activities, staff and functions necessary to provide social services in an assigned region or district office and its satellites.

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES is recruiting for a Social Services Manager 2 underfilling for Social Services Manager 3 for the Fallon Child Welfare office. Social Services Manager (SSM) 2 exercise direct control over the implementation of child welfare services for their region. SSM 2 must work to develop competent supervisors and frontline staff through case consultation, coaching and mentoring and modeling of the desired best practice. SSM 2 are responsible for oversight of front-line supervisors who have direct supervision over complex child welfare cases that can involve significant health and safety issues for children. SSM 2 needs to be expert in the SAFE practice model in order to ensure decision making is in alignment with the model, but also in alignment with policy, statute and regulation. SSM 2 must ensure subordinate staff are well trained and informed/proficient re: statute, code, policy and procedure such that quality services are delivered in their respective communities. SSM 2 covers for front-line supervisors when they are out of the office and, as such, they may be responsible for reviewing and approving the work product of their staff.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public administration or related field and two years of supervisory experience in the implementation of social services programs; interpretation and application of complex federal regulations; and writing program policies, procedures, and reports; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Some positions require professional licensure or certification in a social or medical specialty issued by the appropriate licensing board in the State of Nevada, which will be identified at the time of recruitment. Incumbents must maintain professional licensure or certification in their specialty for continuing employment. A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
