About the OfficeThe Office of Admissions oversees all activities required for admitting attorneys to practice law in California, from the administration of the California State Bar Exam, First-Year Law Students' Exam, and the Legal Specialization Exams to supporting the Committee of Bar Examiners in accrediting California-accredited law schools and registering unaccredited law schools.
Position SummaryThe Office of Admissions is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Eligibility and Special Admissions team as an intern. This role involves reviewing, editing, and performing tasks by following procedures, ensuring clarity and accuracy. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for conducting research and collaborating with external agencies to gather insights and foster partnerships.
Key Responsibilities: - Identify opportunities for improvement in the procedure, ensuring clarity, completeness, and accuracy.
- Add comments to procedures and collaborate with relevant individuals to clarify or resolve ambiguities.
- Perform detailed research on outside credentialing agencies to ensure compliance.
Project Management: - Compliance Project:
- Research and establish communication with relevant organizations to understand their requirements, compliance standards, and certification processes.
- Procedures Project:
- Document and develop new procedures, outlining all necessary steps for efficient processing.
- Test or collaborate with others to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the procedures.
- Other special projects as assigned by the unit.
Collaboration and Communication: - Work closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure that the procedures are up-to-date, accurate, and clearly communicated.
- Contact the necessary individuals to gather information and resolve any discrepancies within the procedures.
- Collaborate with others to ensure the proper validation of new procedures.
Ideal Candidate - Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and external organizations.
- Ability to follow instructions closely and provide feedback on areas of improvement.
- Experience with research and the ability to gather information from external sources.
- Problem-solving skills and initiative to correct issues and improve processes.
- Experience with procedure testing and validation.
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree or graduate degree.
- Available to work 10 weeks full-time from May/June through early August 2025.
- Hybrid remote schedule, working one day per week in the Los Angeles or San Francisco office.
- Candidate must reside in CA and be able to go into the office at least twice a week.

DefinitionUnder general supervision of a member of the State Bar, interns perform a variety of assignments based on the needs of their office. Assignment areas may include conducting research, data analysis and visualization, report building, dashboard customization, customer reporting development, customer support analytics, collaboration and sharing, and other tasks as assigned.
