    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduation with Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in Business Administration or Public Administration and experience in an administrative or executive secretary capacity.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.

    The office of Council Member-elect Mike Siegel is seeking a skilled and experienced Constituent Liaison.

    Successful candidates will demonstrate:
    • Ability to provide excellent constituent service and work effectively with high-level elected officials, leaders of city department, consultants, community partners and other staff

    Job responsibilities will include:
    • Respond to constituent phone calls, emails, online messages, mail, and concerns
    • Act as liaison between Council office, city departments and constituents
    • Facilitate the handling of time-sensitive requests
    • Assess constituent calls for problems requiring policy action and makes recommendations to the Chief of Staff and Policy Team
    • Monitor or prepare responses to management or Council requests for information
    • Manage appointments, meeting requests, calendars and other day-to-day issues requiring facilitating the flow of information among various groups
    • Additional office and outreach duties as needed

    $28.00 - $32.25
    Hours
    Monday - Friday
    8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    Hours will vary depending on operational needs. Some evenings/weekends may be required.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    Assists in facilitating meetings, events and other activities for the district. Schedules appointments and travel accommodations and manages calendars. Prepares committee agendas in collaboration with elected official and City Manager’s Office. Works with peer departments on agenda process and posting. Organizes and maintains files related to office correspondence, reports and other pertinent data. Coordinates the logistics of speaking engagements, conference calls and various types of forums for City Council Members. Conducts research, compiles data, and performs data analysis. Prepares memos, letters and other documents such as notices or agenda for meetings. Facilitates the handling of time sensitive requests such as CAFs (Citizen Action Forms) and other confidential documents.

    City Government

    The City of Austin is a progressive, full-service municipal organization operating under the Council-Manager form of government. Austin has a 10-1 council system with an at-large Mayor and Council Members that represent ten districts. The Mayor and Council Members may serve in their respective seats for four years with a maximum of two consecutive terms.
