    The Position

    Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Division of Public and Behavioral Health Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services Outpatient Program in Sparks is hiring for Psychiatric Caseworker 2s. The incumbents will coordinate and obtain community services for clients, actively participate on the treatment team, and develop care plans, and provide crisis intervention. These positions require crises intervention techniques, documenting client progress, assessing client needs and resources available; case management practices and procedures; laws governing abuse and neglect of clients; care planning and implementation; and educating clients and their families on issues of daily living, coping skills and employment. Psychiatric Caseworkers perform casework duties; monitor the progress of clients in treatment; assess and reassess the clients' level of functioning by interviewing clients, family members, and other community contacts; evaluate clients' needs and resources to determine the level of assistance needed; and refer clients to appropriate services according to the service/care coordination plan in order to meet clients' emotional, behavioral, social, financial, health, vocational, transportation, and basic living needs.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
