    The Position

    Facility Supervisors/Managers plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, custodial work, security functions, and fleet maintenance and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff.

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

    The Facility Supervisor 3 is charged with daily oversight and implementation of routine or preventive maintenance and emergency repairs of all existing equipment at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home, a 24-hour skilled nursing facility located in Boulder City. The incumbent will perform or assign a range of duties, including general building and equipment maintenance of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, electrical and fire devices, refrigerated commercial kitchen equipment, central heating boiler equipment, chiller equipment, rooftop equipment, electrical systems, doors, drywall and painted surfaces in all areas of the facility and grounds. The incumbent will perform numerous safety responsibilities including overseeing and implementing security functions, chairing the facility safety committee; performing and documenting safety inspections and educating staff and contractors on mandatory fire and safety training; and ensuring facility equipment is maintained, repaired or constructed according to federal, state and local safety codes. This position will jointly prepare and allocate annual Maintenance and Safety Department budgets in addition to supervising and evaluating the work of three Maintenance Repair Specialists and the Transportation & Safety Attendant supervisor.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience which must have included project planning, preparation of cost estimates and budgets, scheduling and project management. Two years of the experience must have included supervision of skilled trades workers and semi-skilled workers; OR one year of experience as a Facility Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position is subject to call-out or call-back. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
