    About the Position:

    Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM) is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high-quality learning and working environment for the campus community. Facilities Management provides oversight of university resources and assets and is responsible for the development of the University’s facilities including land use planning, capital improvement, project development, construction, as well as facilities operations and maintenance including custodial services, landscape services, building trade services, mechanical and electrical, and recycling services. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Plumbing Shop team as the Plumber. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

    Under general supervision of the Building Trades Manager, or their designee, for Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM), a Plumber performs a wide range of skilled journey-level Plumbing duties and related work in and around assigned buildings. A Plumber will perform repairs, maintenance, construction, and modifications of university facilities. Will demonstrate a methodical and organized approach to completing work assignments, involving a high level of safety awareness in accordance with established safety procedures.

    This position is highly safety conscious, works in accordance with established safety procedures, is disciplined in proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintains a safe and clean work environment. A Plumber will offer excellent customer service and is always courteous to campus customers while maintaining records and data related to work performed using computerized record-keeping systems. An employee best suited for this plumbing role is one who is defined by their dedication to the quality of their work, dependability, and reliability. This is a key position which cares for campus buildings and grounds to support the University’s mission, vision, and values in higher education. This position will interact with a diverse group of individuals. The Plumber works well in a team environment and understands the balance of sharing duties, taking ownership, and will take the initiative to complete tasks as needed. This position takes pride in every aspect of their work to create and maintain an excellent learning environment at Cal State University Fullerton.     Essential Qualifications

    Progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard plumber’s apprenticeship program. Work requires thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the plumbing trade; a base knowledge of the operation of building automation systems; and a thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal health and safety orders and regulations pertaining to the plumbing trade, including the California State Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety and the California State Plumbing codes.

    Must be able to perform skilled plumbing work on all applicable equipment and systems; perform applicable welding work; obtain necessary backflow prevention licenses; make rough sketches of plumbing installations; read and work from blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications; estimate materials and labor cost of standard plumbing maintenance and repair work; maintain records and retrieve data related to work performed using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems; provide instruction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants; analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations; prepare standard reports; read and write at the level appropriate to the position; and perform arithmetic calculations as required by the position. Incumbents may be required to possess a California Driver’s License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment they are required to maintain and operate.

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience working in a high tech, laboratory or university environment. Experience with using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software packages, utilizing mobile devices and desktop dashboards. Ability to obtain back-flow certification within 6 months of hire date. Ability to obtain Asbestos Competent Certification within 6 months of hire date.

    License/Certifications

    A Valid California Driver's License.
