Our
Airport Operations and Facilities Manager ensures that the airport is operated and maintained in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and policies. Oversees operational safety and security, supervises and trains staff, manages airport activities and responds to emergencies, reported outages, and weather-related events.
The salary range for this position is $85,962 - $124,645 annually with a hiring range of $105,000 - $115,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Essential Functions - Ensures compliance of all relevant federal and state aviation regulatory agency rules and regulations that pertain to aircraft operations and safety (14CFR139) as required for an FAA certificated commercial service airport.
- Assists with updating the Airport Certification Manual.
- Ensure compliance of all relevant federal and state aviation regulatory agency rules and regulations that pertain to airport security (TSR 1540 and 1542) as the Airport Security Coordinator and oversees access control systems and badging; assists with updating the Airport's Security Plan.
- Manage the Airport's training programs for operations and security for staff, tenants, vendors, and tenants.
- Issues NOTAMS and coordinates and actively participates in snow removal operations.
- Ensure compliance with the various self-inspection programs.
- Ensure that the Airport Storm Water Management Plan and other EPA regulatory requirements are met.
- Communicate and coordinates airport operational policies and procedures to ensure safe, secure, efficient and effective airport operations; works with tenants to gain compliance.
- Manage and set work schedules of staff to ensure compliance and coverage for operations and maintenance requirements.
- Supervise staff members assigned.
- Use independent judgement and take initiative.
- Operate and train staff on the proper procedures for airport operations support including airfield driving, snow removal, and troubleshooting equipment.
Other Job Functions - Purchase equipment, parts and/or materials for the maintenance and upkeep of Airport property including hangars, buildings and airfield facilities and equipment.
- Maintain oversight and compliance of the Airport’s access control and credentialing system.
- Coordinate with emergency response agencies and regulatory agencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Education: 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Aviation/Airport Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for education requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Required Experience: 3 years working at a publicly owned airport directly involved with duties related to the essential job functions.
Preferred Experience: 5 years progressive responsibility in the industry.
Certifications -
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- A valid FAA pilot's or mechanic's license and endorsements from the American Association of Airport Executives such as an ACE designation or Certified Member are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Knowledgeable in airport, FAA and TSA regulations including compliance with 14CFR139, Transportation Security Administration regulations, and personnel management.
- Effectively manage people and make decisions with little or no supervision.
- Exercise tact, judgment, and strategy in dealing with a variety of people.
- Establishes and maintains effective working
- Pass a criminal history background check as required by TSA to work within the Airport's Secure Areas.
- Operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment used in an airport environment
- FAA pilot certification preferred.
- FAA airframe and powerplant mechanic certification preferred.
- Mechanical or electrical trades experience preferred.
Physical Demands - Frequent: Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
Working Environment - Occasional: Exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
- Occasional Exposure to hazardous conditions that may lead to workplace injury such as working in heights, exposure to fly ash and/or energized electrical equipment.
