    The Position

    Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    This recruitment is for a Licensed Psychologist 1 with the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS), Children's Mental Health-Community Services, in Las Vegas. This position is responsible for the clinical assessment of youth served. Responsibilities include gathering biological, psychological, and social history of referred youth through interviews, reviewing records, choosing psychological screening and assessment instruments, administering assessments, scoring assessments, synthesizing data, and creating professional psychological reports. This position is also responsible for consultation with agency staff and community stakeholders to ensure that services and interventions provided to youth adhere to the NV System of Care principles. They will also develop presentations or training programs for youth, families, community partners and staff on youth mental health topics. This position is supervised by the Licensed Psychologist 2. This position may have duties that include planning, developing, and coordinating program services; participating in committees, workgroups and activities in developing service delivery needs assessments and evaluations, policies and procedures; writing and administering grants; preparing documentation for budget development and monitoring expenditures; and participating in accrediting and quality review programs.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) One year of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting. Special Requirements Licensed Psychologist I's and Licensed Psychologist II's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment. Some positions require work on evenings, weekends and holidays. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
