    *THIS POSITION IS TEMPORARY (UP TO 40 HOURS) WITH LIMITED BENEFITS. (Please see Benefits tab for additional information.) No Qualified Candidate Pool (QCP) will be established. You will only be contacted if there is an interest from the hiring department.*

    Provides general office support to professional staff in various functions.

    Examples of Duties

    • Provides office support, including performing receptionist duties and typing using personal computer or typewriter, as required
    • Establishes and maintains office files and logs
    • Answers telephone and directs calls to appropriate parties
    • Gathers information at meetings and takes minutes if necessary
    • Distributes information to the public and community groups regarding Metro projects and programs
    • Coordinates presentations to community groups and assists with meeting arrangements and providing information
    • Provides support to special projects
    • Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

    May be required to perform other related job duties

    Minimum Qualifications

    A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

    Education
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate


    Experience
    • None required


    Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
    • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions

    Preferred Qualifications
    Preferred Qualifications (PQs) are used to identify relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) as determined by business necessity. These criteria are considered preferred qualifications and are not intended to serve as minimum requirements for the position. PQs will help support selection decisions throughout the recruitment. In addition, applicants who possess these PQs will not automatically be selected.

    • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint) to create and maintain files and databases

    • Experience providing administrative support in the public sector (city, county, or public transit agencies)

    • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish


    Essential Knowledge

    • Correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
    • Applicable business software applications

    • Maintaining files and various records
    • Interacting professionally with various levels of Metro employees and outside representatives


    Ability to (defined as a present competence to perform an observable behavior or produce an observable result)
    • Maintain confidentiality of materials and files
    • Respond appropriately to inquiries and requests for information
    • Identify problems and recommend solutions
    • Learn and inform the public and community groups about all aspects of Metro projects and programs
    • Work under close supervision
    • Travel to offsite locations
    • Read, write, speak, and understand English
