    The Position

    Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) is the largest department of the Contra Costa County government, employing more than 4,000 staff members.     The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is offering an excellent employment opportunity for qualified individuals interested in the Storeroom Clerk position. There is currently one (1) vacancy in the Materials Management Unit located in Martinez, CA.

    We are looking for someone who is:

    • A strong communicator. You will need to keep your team members and supervisor informed to ensure continuous and effective storeroom operations
    • Willing to learn. You will be working on tasks and/or projects that may be unfamiliar and need to adapt quickly to learn more about them
    • Willing to serve. You will be playing a critical role in getting the needed supplies to patients, caregivers, and hospitals
    • Technologically Savvy. You will be working with a computer and need to be comfortable with basic office programs
    What you will typically be responsible for:
    • Performing a variety of clerical work to support storeroom or warehouse operations in a health services setting
    • Receiving, storing, and issuing materials, supplies, and equipment
    • Performing manual work that is required to move and lift heavy and bulky objects
    • Working collaboratively with a variety of both County and non-County staff to successfully serve the patients, caregivers, and hospitals
    • Reading and understanding a variety of records, documents, and reports.
    • Performing basic math calculations
    • Acting as a back-up Driver Clerk to maintain scheduled delivery route, as required

    Minimum Qualifications

    Licenses Required: Driver's License: Candidates must possess a valid California motor vehicle operator's license. Out-of-state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.

    Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency, or high school proficiency certificate.

    Other Requirement: Employees in this class are subject to drug and alcohol testing under provisions of the County's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.

    Selection Process

    Application Filing and Evaluation: All applicants must apply online at www.cccounty.us/hr and submit the information as indicated on the job announcement and supplemental questionnaire by the final filing date. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Online Multiple-Choice Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online multiple-choice assessment. The assessment will be conducted online to measure candidates; competencies as they relate to the Storeroom Clerk classification. These may include but are not limited to: Mathematical Facility, Reading Comprehension, Attention to Detail, Teamwork, and Writing. (Weighted 100%) Departmental Hiring Interview: To be scheduled once the eligible list is established.
    TENTATIVE DATES:
    Online Multiple-Choice Test: December 31st 2024 - January 6th, 2025

    The assessment will be administered remotely using a computer. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment. It is not recommended to take the assessment using a cell phone.

    The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.

    CONVICTION HISTORY

    After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).     DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

    All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
