Summary of position
To support the efforts of the police department by providing services to the community while also supporting other divisions within the police department. This is an entry-level, civilian position intended to give support to sworn officers by handling service-oriented calls, performing security checks, and other duties not requiring a sworn law enforcement officer to handle. The position performs a variety of paraprofessional administrative staff and support line services of the police department. Performs a variety of technical duties in support of community development’s code enforcement program during hours when community development personnel are not available (e.g. weekends, nights and holidays).
Minimum qualifications
Experience: - Two years directly related experience in regulatory or enforcement duties; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Some experience in the handling of animals.
Training: - High school diploma or GED
License or Certificate - Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license within three months of hire.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) Level C TOC certification within one year of hire.
- Possession of/or ability to obtain a Zoning Enforcement Officer or Code Enforcement League of Arizona (CELA) Certification within two years.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a Sound Control Enforcement Certification at first availability or no later than within two years of hire.

- Applicants must pass an extensive background check.
Working Conditions
Environmental Conditions : - Field, parking garage, and animal shelter environment; travel from site to site; exposure to a variety of domestic and wild animals; hazards associated with crime scenes as well as working in or near traffic; inclement weather conditions.
Physical Conditions : - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking for prolonged periods of time; standing for prolonged periods of time; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling; climbing with both legs and arms; operating motorized vehicles.
