    The Contra Costa Health Services Department is excited to offer a career opportunity for qualified individuals interested to fill one (1) vacant Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientist assigned to the Clinical Laboratory at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) in Martinez, CA.

    The CCRMC is a full-service county hospital and offers a complete array of patient-centered health care services delivered in a beautiful facility.

    We are looking for someone who can organize and coordinate daily work schedules. You will be responsible for overseeing multiple laboratory sections, developing protocols, and providing technical guidance to Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) staff.     • Establishing and maintaining the laboratory quality control program
    • Reviewing laboratory reports for accuracy and completeness
    • Preparing quarterly and annual quality assurance reports
    • Reviewing and updating laboratory policies and procedures
    • Providing technical consultation for laboratory testing protocols
    • Reviewing QC logs weekly for sections assigned to oversight
    • Performing evaluations and competencies for CLS staff
    • Conducting administrative functions to include payroll, counseling, and HR requests

    The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Required: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment a valid and unrestricted Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the California Department of Public Health.

    Experience: Three (3) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience as a licensed senior scientist in a clinical laboratory performing varied clinical tests and analyses.

    Other Requirements: A background investigation/fingerprint and/or physical exam may be required prior to the start of employment.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Experience in general laboratory processes and testing procedures
    • Understanding counseling and clinical laboratory competency assessments
    • Knowledge of the Joint Commission Survey accreditation process
    • Knowledge of validating laboratory analyzers and lab protocol testing procedure development
    • Quality assurance and quality improvement experience
    • Understanding of CLIA and CMS testing requirements


    Selection Process

    3. Training and Experience Evaluation: Candidates who clearly demonstrate that they possess the minimum qualifications will have their training and experience evaluated. The responses to the supplemental questions, at the time of filing, will be evaluated to determine each candidate's relevant education, training, and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire. (Weighted 100%).
