    Career Opportunity
    The City’s Information Technology Department is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join their dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the City’s technology infrastructure. In this key position, the Senior Systems Administrator will leverage their expertise to manage and support mission-critical systems, lead impactful projects, and mentor fellow IT staff.

    As a Tier 3 support specialist, the Senior Systems Administrator will oversee complex email administration, system and network infrastructure, and provide advanced support for a range of Microsoft technologies, including M365, Exchange Hybrid, Windows Server, and Office 365. The role will also involve ensuring email security, troubleshooting, and managing integrations with cloud services like SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.

    The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff. Leadership abilities, including decision-making, project management, and clear communication, are essential for driving technological success and ensuring the efficiency and security of IT operations.

    Schedule: Hybrid, 9/80 work schedule (with every other Friday off).
    Supervisory Responsibilities: May oversee and mentor lower-level Information Technology staff.

    Essential Duties:

    Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Administer and support a wide range of Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Hyper-V, DNS/DHCP, SQL, and Office 365.
    • Ensure seamless integration of Microsoft technologies with cloud services such as SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
    • Manage identity and authentication through Active Directory and Azure Active Directory, including Single Sign-On (SSO).
    • Maintain a working knowledge of Linux, SAN/NAS storage, backup technologies, and SSL/PKI certificate management.
    • Provide support for email e-Discovery tasks as requested by city management.
    • Lead and manage projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with organizational goals.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge and skills, which would typically be acquired through:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field and five years of progressively responsible, professional Information Technology experience. Master's Degree highly desired; or,
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform a particular subset of the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

    Licensing Requirements :
    • Valid California Driver’s License
    Preferred Certifications:
    • Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
    • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate
    • PMP, AWS, CompTIA Network+, Cyber Security and Firewalls
