    The Position

    Certified Nursing Assistants perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services related to the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights.

    At the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, incumbents perform the duties described in the series concept and function as a lead-worker.

    Certified Nursing Assistant III will work under the direct supervision of a Correctional Nurse III. This position will be the lead Certified Nursing Assistant supervising Certified Nursing Assistant II's. They will contribute to basics health assessments, collects, reports and records on flow sheets and treatment sheets basic objectives and subjective data related to Patient's health status and reports any changes to the CN II.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing and 18 months of experience performing work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an institutional setting; OR 18 months as a Certified Nursing Assistant II in Nevada State service. Special Requirements Some positions require current CPR certification at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment for the Certified Nursing Assistant I, II and III. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
