Full-time position available with the Water Department, Regulatory Compliance Division located at 7300 Hawthorne Road
Salary Range: $19.27-$29.39/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Inspects sewer systems, manholes, storm drains and appurtenances for adherence to construction, maintenance or operational standards; reports findings and prepares work orders for needed repairs.
- Inspects waste disposal facilities to determine their compliance with the requirements on waste discharge permits and prepares reports as to compliance or conditions needing improvement or alteration.
- Conducts special water supply or wastewater treatment facility sampling surveys; makes reports on findings to supervisor.
- Makes site inspections to determine if facilities are in compliance with applicable regulations; reports deficiencies to supervisor and follows up to see that necessary instructions and regulations to attain compliance are provided to the operators.
- Installs and regularly checks fixed and/or mobile station air monitoring and sampling equipment used in air quality monitoring and surveillance program.
- Compiles air quality data and prepare reports regarding air quality sampling surveys for submission to technical superior.
- Takes certified smoke readings as required.
- Inspects food and dairy establishments, advises owners and/or operators as to deficiencies; re-inspects as necessary.
- Performs assigned tasks in laboratory microscopic analyses of biological samples.
- Receives waste from the general public; segregates chemicals by hazard class; packs compatible materials in appropriate containers and prepares for transportation; completes necessary reports.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 1 year of applicable experience in a related technical construction, environmental health, hazardous materials or engineering field. Must possess of a valid state issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
