Senior Legal Office Assistant to join our team and help support the legal operations critical to our law enforcement efforts.
This lead role will provide mentorship, training, and oversight to a team of Legal Office Assistants while ensuring the efficient processing and management of legal documents and administrative tasks within the department. Examples of Duties:- Acts as a resource for support staff, and the general public regarding a variety of legal and/or law enforcement forms, procedures and requirements
- Types correspondence, reports, legal forms and specialized legal documents from drafts, notes, dictated tapes, or brief instructions.
- Proofreads and checks typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance with departmental policies and established procedures, and accurate English usage including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Collects information from people or sources to complete legal forms, records, and applications. Communicates with individuals for more information or to address issues.
- Posts and transcribes data, prepares and updates a broad range of reports, and audits records, which may require the use of routine arithmetic calculations.
- Maintains office files, investigative files, databases, and confidential intelligence files and researches and compiles information from such files
- Conducts follow-up investigation, including researching legal/law enforcement databases and files, making telephone inquiries; and maintains files on specified registrants.
- Serves as liaison to outside local, state, federal law enforcement/legal agencies in giving and receiving relevant information.

Education and Experience RequiredGraduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate and two years of legal clerical or office assistant experience at a level comparable to Nevada County's classification of Legal Office Assistant II. Senior LOAs assigned to some offices must have completed POST law enforcement clerk course and/or CLETS training at time of application.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Typing at a net rate of 40 wpm.
Completion of POST law enforcement clerk course and/or CLETS training required for certain positions, as noted on the job announcement.
