In this pivotal role, you will coordinate the entire career management cycle, driving strategic workforce development efforts at both institutional and regional levels.

    • Career Navigation & Professional Development Continuing Education: Provide ongoing support and resources for lifelong learning.
    • Workforce Development Insights: Stay ahead of industry trends and policies to inform our strategies.

    Position Information
    • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
    • This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
    • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
    • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

    Department Summary

    The Career Services department is a unit in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity. It is an innovative, reputable, and globally recognized leader that supports education, workforce, and economic development. The Career Services department serves students by supporting their career development journey through the following activities:
    • Career exploration
    • Professional development
    • Employment preparation and experiential learning
    • Industry engagement and employment outcomes

    The Career Services department serves industry partners by supporting their talent acquisition and business needs through the following activities:
    • Workforce development planning and consulting
    • Professional development
    • Direct services and resources to support talent acquisition.

    Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity

    The Division facilitates the academic and career success, personal growth and well-being of all students, and works proactively to address systemic inequities through professional learning, community building, advocacy, policy recommendations and organizational structures.     Education and Experience

    Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related. Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required.

    A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.

    • Expertise in equipping students with job readiness skills, including resume writing, interview techniques, and networking strategies.
    • Familiarity with industry trends, labor market insights, and policies that impact workforce development.
    • Ability to work effectively with colleges, industries, and community partners to align programs with workforce needs.
    • Strong leadership skills to design, implement, and assess impactful career development activities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with diverse audiences, including students, faculty, and industry professionals.

    Licenses/Certifications Required
    • Valid California Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,276 per month.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,276 - $7,517 per month.
