    Job Summary

    Under the supervision of the Director, Career Development Center and led by the Assistant Director of Employer Engagement, the Employer Recruitment and Program Coordinator will act in a lead role in coordinating, planning, and executing a variety of activities and events that engage students with the employment community. They will build partnerships between the university and external communities (business, the public sector, and not-for-profit entities) emphasizing development and marketing to expand part-time, career and internship employment opportunities for students. In consultation with employers manage and expand recruitment job listings, and events available to students in CareerLINK. Provide advising and coaching to students and alumni in all aspects of career exploration, decision-making and job search.

    Furthermore, this position is responsible for providing services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life, retention, and graduation rate. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Coordinate, plan and execute Employer recruitment presentations and events. Coordinate, plan, develop and implement all administrative policies and procedures necessary for the implementation of program goals, objectives and action plans for employer recruitment events and activities.
    • Employer and Job Development: cultivate employer relations and serve as liaison between employers and students.
    • Managing and reviewing CareerLINK job postings. Manage the job/internship posting process; ensure the job postings meet Career Development Center, state, and federal guidelines and that the system is fully maximized by students, employers, the Career Services staff, and the campus community.
    • Coordinate Career Development Center student event calendar. Coordinate with Career Education & Counseling Team and Employer Engagement Team to create a student professional development event calendar for each semester.
    • Career Advising & Drop In Services. Responsible for career advising and employment assistance to those students and alumni interested in specific professional careers.


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of current employment trends and salary structures; student development and counseling theories; and career decision-making and job search processes Current knowledge of employment and career planning materials; knowledge of alternative approaches to career development and planning needs for individuals with special needs. Knowledge of uses of Career Services Management Systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint on a PC Computer. Strong organizational, program development and communication skills, creative thinking/reasoning abilities and demonstrated competency to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail. Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals.

    Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines. Demonstrated work experience in relationship building among various constituent groups; proven ability to develop and leverage relationships toward achievement of concrete goals. Demonstrated experience identifying, analyzing, and creating marketing and promotional activities and campaigns. Ability to work as lead person in developing and implementing marketing strategies involving collaborative arrangements with professional colleagues. Excellent written communication skills, includes editing and proofreading to produce quality marketing materials. Strong writing skills with the ability to compose creative and concise communications, which are both informative and accurate. Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. A Strong critical thinking skills; must be able to analyze a problem or opportunity and identify appropriate strategies.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Education and Experience
    • Equivalent to a bachelor’s Degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields (preferably in human/social services/behavioral sciences or a related field) and three years professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.
    • Minimum of three years of experience in developing and facilitating workshops; making presentations; and exhibiting excellent oral and written communication skills preferred.
    • Ability to work evenings and or weekends based on operational needs.

    Physical Summary

    Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

    Licenses

    Valid CA Driver License preferred. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,276 - $6,128 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,276 - $7,517 per month.

    Time Base

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

    Duration of Appointment

    This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
