    Pay Range: $54,879 - $71,343

    Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:30pm (1 st Shift)

    Monday - Friday 1:00pm-9:30pm (2 nd shift)

    Must be available to work weekends and holidays with the possibility of no advance notice. On-call availability required.

    The City of Fort Worth Water Department is currently in need of an Assistant Field Operations Supervisor in the Meter Services Section. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all field activities related to the maintenance of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system, water meter installation, replacement, repair, testing and reading, as well as managing a team of employees. The role includes overseeing meter investigations, maintenance, new development, revenue recovery, survey inventory, delinquency, and large meter exchange/testing. This position will also need to coordinate activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public. As a key member of the team, this individual will also offer support to upper management on more complex matters. The ideal candidate for this position will be dedicated, experienced, and highly motivated, as the job requires working in a fast-paced environment where quick response to customer inquiries is crucial.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High school diploma/GED.
    • At least three years of increasingly responsible experience in water field construction, maintenance, repair, or operational activities.
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Possession or ability to attain TCEQ Class C Water Distribution Operator license with in a year.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Water Utility Knowledge and Experience
    • Project/Contract Management Experience
    • Experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
    • Familiar with billing software such as AS400-Cisco.
    • Knowledge in Automated Meter Reading (AMR) or Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system.
    • RF/Wireless Technology, Sensus FlexNet AMI and Meter Data Management System (MDMS)
    • Bilingual/Spanish

    The Assistant Field Operations Supervisor job responsibilities include:
    • Supervise staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintain a healthy and safe working environment; encouraging and recognizing employees, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
    • Develop and document training, policies, and procedures.
    • Oversee all field activities using work order data and reports.
    • Respond and resolve complex and escalated customer inquiries, including internal customers, responding to emergencies and after-hours customer issues, all while providing exceptional customer service.
    • Manage special projects, contracts, and contractors.
    • Generate daily and monthly reports, analyze data and statistics, and utilize data for day-to-day operations, including decision-making.
    • Develop and implement best practices to improve operational efficiency.
    • Research new industry processes and equipment for potential implementation. Collaborates with others to research trends, data and other records to gain knowledge of equipment and machinery, and inspects and investigates problem areas within the system for possible remedies.
    • Monitor and track individual driver, safety training, and vehicle usage, handle accident/injury reporting, and obtain the necessary services.
    • Schedule vehicle preventative maintenance, review monthly reports on vehicle expenditures and verify the information and reconcile information, as necessary.

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

    • Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

    Medical Program
