    The Position

    Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

    The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for Public Service Intern 2 positions- Part-Time, located within Early Childhood Mental Health Services, Day Treatment Services. Early Childhood Mental Health Services Day Treatment Public Service Interns plan and implement group and individual activities for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed preschool-aged children (ages 3-6 years) within a therapeutic group setting. Activities must be developmentally appropriate and relevant to the children's treatment needs. Public Service Interns complete daily documentation of each child's progress towards treatment goals and objectives. They prepare reports for each child in the program. Public Service Interns at times may be the clinical lead in the Day Treatment setting. Candidate must be enrolled in a current graduate program in the field of Education, Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Child and Family Studies, Counseling, or directly related field at an accredited college or university.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree related to the field of employment and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic graduate program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university. Special Notes Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation. Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
