    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Justice Court- Las Vegas Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Court Compliance Officer I/II position. This position will work in the Specialty Court Division and reports directly to the Specialty Court Supervisor. The position works in conjunction with the Mental Health Court Specialist to ensure mental health court participants are in compliance with treatment court conditions; will utilize risk assessment tools for screening of potential treatment court admissions; works as a member of the treatment court team and work performed may be in a correctional facility or professional office environment with fieldwork as needed.

    Court Compliance Officer I: $22.34 - $34.59 Hourly
    Court Compliance Officer II: $24.07 - $37.36 Hourly


    The Court Compliance Officer I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Court Compliance Officer II.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

    Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

    Some positions may be used to fill term Limited-Permanent positions. The selected candidates will be hired for a special project or duties of a limited duration and be required to sign a term of employment letter specifying condition and exact dates of employment. The successful selected candidates will be eligible for benefits during the duration of employment.

    Some positions may be Grant Funded. Grant Funded positions are subject to continuation based on availability of grant funds and the employee will be terminated without right of appeal when such funds are no longer available.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience:

    Court Compliance Officer I - Equivalent to graduation from high school plus one (1) year of professional revenue collection experience or monitoring of client cases for compliance with established policies or legal mandates in a court judicial enforcement program, financial institution, collection agency, government agency, or related field.

    Court Compliance Officer II - Equivalent to graduation from high school plus two (2) years of professional revenue collection experience or monitoring of client cases for compliance with established policies or legal mandates in a court judicial enforcement program, financial institution, collection agency, government agency, or related field.

    All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application.     Working Conditions:
    Work with exposure to potentially difficult or dangerous individuals.

    Licensing and Certification: Possession of a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License.

    Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment, background investigations may be conducted.

    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    Participates with judges, courtroom staff, court marshals and attorneys in the enforcement activities of the Courts by enforcing court-ordered compliance and collecting court-imposed fines. May be responsible for enrolling offenders and monitoring their attendance in court-ordered treatment programs, including compliance with all requirements mandated by the court-ordered treatment programs as well as other court orders. May be required to set court dates for offenders to address matters of non-compliance with court orders. Contacts defendants in person, by telephone or through written correspondence to set up payment plans, answer questions, provide information, explain procedures, make adjustments to installment plan, monitors progress of enforcement efforts and calculates payoff amounts; refers defendants to the work program or community service program when appropriate, maintaining close contact with program staff to monitor progress. May determine defendant's ability to pay and eligibility for installment payment of fines, based on court policy; determine defendant's willingness to comply with court orders and refer those unlikely to comply to the court marshal unit; verify the validity of a warrant, refer to court marshal unit for the arrest of the defendant and assist in locating the defendant, if necessary. May assist defendants at the front counter, defuses volatile situations and resolve issues of contradiction; Authorizes case continuances and enforcement of court-imposed sanctions based on judicial guidelines. Operates court computer programs to update and retrieve data and generate reports. Accesses a variety of computer systems to gather data about defendants, such as traffic and criminal violations, home address, property owned and credit reports; maintains knowledge of systems such as Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), Shared Computer Operation for Protection in Enforcement System (SCOPE), Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS), Property Assessor, Department of Motor Vehicles, and others, so that required information may be gathered. Responds to judicial inquiries regarding the status of cases and may assist in locating defendants. Prepares a variety of periodic statistics and reports as requested. Assists in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for all facets of the court installment payment program; stays abreast of current procedures and assists other court employees with adherence to current procedures. May participate in reconciling and auditing contract issues with vendor collection agencies. May respond to correspondence received from other jurisdictions. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Maintains accurate records and files. May prepare periodic or special reports related to work performed. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, strength to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
