    DESCRIPTION

    The Department of Public Works has immediate openings for two (2) full-time, at-will, unclassified Clerk Typist Ill. One position will serve as direct clerical support for the General Superintendent of Operations in the Environmental Services Bureau and other position will support the General Superintendent of Administration, People and Culture in the Business Operations Bureau.

    This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in the same grade and classification within the Public Works Department.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Interacts with other departments, the public and outside agencies in person or by telephone.
    • Schedules and coordinates meetings, interviews and/or trainings.
    • Composes, types, edits and proofs memos, correspondence and documents.
    • Maintains and produces various types of reports and logs.
    • Establishes, develops, and maintains filing systems for records and forms.
    • Assists with editing letters, spreadsheets, Council Letters, and Council Memos.
    • Assists with clerical/administrative duties to support Division.
    • Manages copier supplies and maintenance requests, office supply orders, and shredder bin removal.
    • Assists with researching, interpreting, and implementing safety policies and procedures.
    • Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies.
    • May compose correspondence, write desk manuals, compile information, and prepare reports.
    • Performs other related duties as required.


    REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

    M INIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    • The ability to type accurately at a net speed of 40 words per minute and perform basic clerical and office support duties.
    • The ability to work cooperatively with others and the public.
    • The ability to file in alphabetical and numerical order and perform clerical detail, which includes making simple mathematical computations and correcting error in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    • A valid Class C Driver's License.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Two years (full-time equivalent) of professional experience performing progressively responsible clerical functions in an office setting.
    • Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS/SharePoint.

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

    • The ability to work cooperatively with other employees and the public.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
