Department of Public Health, Animal Care Division is recruiting for
Animal Care Attendants* who perform tasks of a routine nature involving manual labor in animal shelters and field services. Duties include supporting dogs and cats with walking, playing, bathing and multi-dog or cat playgroup activities, providing treats; cleaning and disinfecting kennels/cat cages/livestock corrals, equipment, and work areas; feeding and watering animals; assisting Animal Control Officers with animal impounds; transporting animals by van to the clinic for spay and neuter services; completing and maintaining necessary forms and logs; updating shelter computer database; answering routine questions from the public and supporting with animal adoptions; engaging in various upkeep activities around the animal shelter. Field related duties may include delivering animal traps, paperwork, picking up deceased animals, and transporting livestock.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT - Physical: Requires frequent standing and walking; frequent stooping and bending; and the ability to lift and restrain small to very large animals, both domestic and wild, which may weigh up to 100 pounds. Additionally, these positions require work in inclement weather.
- License: A valid California Class C driver license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for duration of employment. At the time of appointment, proof of automobile liability insurance and proof of driving record (a DMV report) must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.
- Work Schedule: Must be available to work weekends.
- Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.
- Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Desired QualificationsApplicants who have experience working with animals in an animal control environment are encouraged to apply.
