The PositionWhy Join Contra Costa County? The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is looking to add one (1) new Health Services Timekeeping Technician to our dynamic payroll team! This unit processes timesheets for approximately 4,800 Health Services employees.
In this role, you will be responsible for assisting employees with questions about their pay, while processing a high volume of paper timesheets/corrections. This requires reviewing employee information, various Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and applying knowledge of timekeeping, County pay codes, differentials, and other pertinent information, to ensure employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.

Minimum QualificationsEducation: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or high school proficiency certificate.
Experience: Three (3) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting documents and records, at least six (6) months of which included calculating or coding and preparing payroll documents.
Desirable Qualifications:- Payroll experience in a large government agency
- Payroll experience with union represented employees
Selection ProcessApplication Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
