    Introduction

    PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A PART TIME NON-BENEFITED POSITION.

    Performs paraprofessional accounting work including compiling data, processes journals and other files into the financial system, performs reconciliations, and processes month-end and year-end closes.

    Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The midpoint for this position is $31.63.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
    • Two years' experience working with general ledger systems and related subsidiary systems, (i.e. accounts receivable, accounts payable).
    • One year of customer service or public contact experience.
    • Preferred: Government experience.


    Licensing and Other Requirements
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.


    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:

    All Assignments
    • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of financial systems and performs periodic reviews and updates accordingly.
    • Performs paraprofessional accounting work including compiling data, processes journals and other files into the financial system, performs reconciliations, and processes month-end and year-end closes.
    • Prepares, maintains and reconciles various databases and financial information for analytical and reporting purposes; monitors and evaluates the accuracy and timeliness of data input and output.
    • Assembles, edits, and publishes reports utilizing publishing software.
    • Documents procedures for all technical processes.
    • Schedules meetings, appointments, and conference room bookings.
    • Greets visitors, responds to telephone inquiries, and directs inquiries to appropriate staff.
    • Provides administrative assistance to staff members in assigned department.

    Information Technology Assignment
    • Performs a variety of technical duties involved in the procurement of technology goods and services for IT and City departments. Requests technical quotes from vendors and create requisitions for orders. Follows up with vendors on orders and work through the entire ordering process.
    • Creates check requisitions, credit card purchases, reconciles credit card statements.
    • Manages IT Petty Cash Box.
    • Works with IT Inventory - reconciling inventory to accounting records, creating reports and updating the database.

    PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
