    Position Duties

    The Information Technology Department is recruiting for an Analyst I/II within the City’s Project Management Office (PMO).

    This position will focus on supporting the implementation of the City’s intranet. The new intranet, OneCity Workplace, will transition the City’s existing intranet site and mix of portals to a more functional and collaborative space that better suits a modern hybrid workforce. Staff aims to implement a platform that makes it easier for teams to mimic in-person online activities by integrating the City’s work processes and common technology tools,

    The successful implementation of OneCity Workplace will require coordination and collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams and all 20 City departments, as well as conducting an analysis of current processes to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend the implementation of more efficient procedures. This position will be a key team player for this project.

    The ideal candidate should have strong problem-solving abilities, excellent relationship-building, and communication skills, and be highly organized.

    Key duties include but are not limited to:
    • Lead and support process improvements, including documenting current processes, interviewing teams, and recommending new procedures.
    • Facilitate meetings with department stakeholders.
    • Assist with the coordination of implementation tasks.
    • Support content migration to the new intranet solution by working closely with the Intranet Manager and Project Manager.
    • Develop user manuals and training materials for end-users.
    • Coordinate training sessions and workshops to ensure smooth adoption.
    • Monitor and address technical issues and bugs in a timely manner.
    • Conduct quality assurance testing.
    This position is currently funded through June 30, 2025, with the potential to extend based on resource availability.

    Please note that the Project Analyst I/II position is currently on a hybrid telework schedule - working remotely and onsite is subject to change.

    Salary Information: The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in Analyst I/II classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
    Annual Salary Ranges (including the 5% NPWI):
    • Analyst I: $88,954.32 (min) - $108,108.00 (max)
    • Analyst II: $97,078.80 (min) - $117,979.68 (max)
    The Analyst I/II classification is represented by the Municipal Employees’ Federation (MEF).

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    Analyst I
    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

    Analyst II
    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of increasingly responsible professional staff analytic or administrative experience conducting studies, organizing and analyzing data, and preparing reports, recommendations, or conclusions for a functional area in budget, finance, grant administration, organizational analysis, general administration, or human resources.

    Acceptable Substitution
    Additional years of experience in a position comparable to the Staff Specialist with the City of San José in areas such as budget, finance, grant administration, organizational analysis, general administration or human resources may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

    The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies, as demonstrated in past and current employment history.

    Communication Skills - Effectively conveys information and expresses thoughts and facts clearly, orally and in writing; demonstrates effective use of listening skills and displays openness to other people's ideas and thoughts.

    Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills - Develops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks and using collaboration and conflict resolution skills.

    Collaboration - Develops networks and builds alliances; engages in cross-functional activities.

    Decision Making - Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.

    Reliability - Completes quality work assignments in a timely and efficient manner; fulfills responsibilities and maintains confidentiality as appropriate.

    Selection Process:
