    The BeautifySJ Program is a blight reduction, community and neighborhood beautification, and encampment management program within the Community Services Division of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department. BeautifySJ Programs include, the Graffiti Removal Program, Illegal Dumping Program, Neighborhood Dumpster Day Program, Neighborhood Litter Program, Recreational Vehicle Pollution Prevention Program, Encampment Trash removal Program, Clean Gateways and Cash for Trash Program.

    Position Duties

    The Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Analyst I/II vacancy on the BeautifySJ Team which is apart of the Community Services Division.

    The salary ranges for this classification are:
    • Analyst I: $88,954.32 - $108,108.00
    • Analyst II: $97,078.80 - $117,979.68

    The salary ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

    Typical responsibilities for this position include:

    • Contract Development and Management (Administrative Support for Supervisor/Contract Manager)
      • Drafting contract with contract manager and vendor
      • Creating invoices
      • Maintaining budgets
      • Ensuring that we are adhering to contract terms
      • Providing analysis as needed
    • Data Analytics
    • Power BI
    • Data Analytics and Program Reporting
    • Program Development/Admin Support
      • Assist with creating work plan on how to start a new program.
      • Assisting managers with vendor set up and OP encumbrances as needed
      • Providing analytical support as it related to metrics to be collected for reporting
    Invoice Processing
    • Receiving, and logging invoices
    • Send to management for approval
    • Processing payments with Finance/Fiscal
    Revenue Management
    • Setting up revenue and personnel/non personal codes with the Budget office
    • Receiving and depositing revenue received from partner agencies.
    • Maintain budgets to report to Senior Analyst and Division Manager
    Purchases Orders
    • Processing encumbrance requests & encumbrance adjustments
    • Working with Team to obtain new vendors.
    Special projects as needed

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    Analyst I

    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

    Analyst II

    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of increasingly responsible professional staff analytic or administrative experience conducting studies, organizing and analyzing data, and preparing reports, recommendations, or conclusions for a functional area in budget, finance, grant administration, organizational analysis, general administration, or human resources.

    Acceptable Substitution: Additional years of experience in a position comparable to the Staff Specialist with the City of San José in areas such as budget, finance, grant administration, organizational analysis, general administration or human resources may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

    Project Management - Defines outcomes and expectations based on customer requirements; sets deadlines in a way that gets commitment from all parties involved; completes a simple or relatively short-term project in time; sets a project goal and identifies necessary steps to achieve a goal; carries out a project within your own area.

    Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills - Develops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks and using collaboration and conflict resolution skills.

    Communication Skills - Effectively conveys information and expresses thoughts and facts clearly, orally and in writing; demonstrates effective use of listening skills and displays openness to other people's ideas and thoughts.

    Selection Process:

    The selection process will consist of an evaluation of the applicant's training and experience based on the application and responses to all the job specific questions.
