Certified Nursing Assistants who provide services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients throughout the hospital. Duties include: assisting with general bedside nursing care such as bathing, shaving, dressing, and feeding patients; ambulating, repositioning and transporting patients; taking vital signs; assisting healthcare staff with dressing changes and procedures; changing bed linens and observing patients and reporting changes in patient conditions to a nurse in charge. Nursing Assistants in behavioral health will assist with the care of severely mentally ill, emotionally disturbed or mentally disabled patients requiring specialized care and treatment. In addition, Nursing Assistants may provide one-to-one or two-to-one direct patient observations to ensure patient safety.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Differential: Incumbents assigned to ARMC Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit may receive inpatient assignment compensation of $1.50 per hour.
Availability: ARMC is a twenty-four hour facility; applicants must be available to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, depending on the needs of the department. Indicate shift availability on the appropriate place on the application.
Appointments: We are currently hiring for
Regular, Per Diem, and Extra-Help positions. Per Diem and Extra help positions are paid at a higher salary and are in the Unclassified Service which serve at the discretion of the appointing authority. These positions participate in the County's Part-time Seasonal Temporary (PST) Deferred Compensation Plan and do not earn any other benefits. Candidates selected for Per Diem or Extra-Help positions are not precluded from being considered for full-time positions and may remain on the list for full-time employment.
Certifications: Must possess and maintain Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support certification. Depending on the area of assignment Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification may be required. MAB training will be provided.
Working Conditions: The work environment may involve exposure to assaultive and combative patients, hazardous and infectious materials, and communicable diseases.
Minimum Requirements Candidates must meet both the Certification and Experience requirements: CERTIFICATION: Must possess and maintain Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
-AND-EXPERIENCE:- Option 1: Six (6) months of recent ( within the past five (5) years ) full-time work experience involving bedside care of patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation hospital or professional setting.
-OR-- Option 2: Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program within the past two (2) years.
Desired QualificationsBilingual candidates and those willing to work in the acute behavioral health setting are highly desired.
