The Office of the County Counsel invites applicants to apply for Supervising Deputy County Counsel . The list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies in both the Juvenile Dependency and Litigation units.
Supervising Deputy County Counsel positions direct/oversee subunits in the General Advisory, Litigation, or Juvenile Dependency Units. These positions provide administrative input and support; supervision of professional and support staff; and participation in personnel matters. Additionally, a position in the General Advisory unit will provide legal advice and assistance to client departments as assigned. A position in the Litigation unit will supervise attorneys and staff who provide legal services to client departments with an emphasis on civil litigation in state and federal courts. A position in the Juvenile Dependency unit will supervise attorneys who represent the Department of Children and Family Services in Juvenile Court dependency matters. These positions are also expected to identify, recommend and provide training to the professional and support staff in each unit and to client departments.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required, and employees may be required to make provisions for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Background: Candidates must successfully pass an extensive background investigation, which may include (but is not limited to) a credit check, fingerprint check, and medical exam.
State Bar: Must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California at the time of hire. This status must be maintained in order to remain employed in this classification.
Sponsorship : Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
Experience: Must currently hold regular status as a Deputy County Counsel IV or currently be employed in the Deputy County Counsel V classification in the office of the San Bernardino County Counsel AND possess 5 years of experience practicing California municipal law or public agency civil law.

License: Must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
