    The Position

    Developmental Specialists provide individual and group clinical, developmental and support services for individuals of all ages who have, or who may be at risk for, developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or related conditions, and social, emotional, and/or behavioral disorders.

    Under direction, incumbents perform a broad range of duties described in the series concept and may assist in program planning by developing goals and objectives, conducting needs assessments, and collecting and reporting information about the program. This is the journey level in the series.

    The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Developmental Specialist III within the Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) in Las Vegas. The position will supervise Psychiatric Caseworker staff within the Las Vegas team. The Mobile Crisis Response Team receives, and triages calls from families and community partners, responds in teams to families with children experiencing a mental or behavioral health crisis. Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, homes, and other community settings. Developmental Specialist III staff (PCW Supervisors) are responsible for documentation review and conducting live supervision and training for direct staff. PCW Supervisors are responsible for a team of Psychiatric Caseworkers and report to a Clinical Program Manager. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the children's crisis system and mental health resources in Nevada. There are opportunities to support professional development in providing clinical supervision to licensed interns. Education release time (Up to 3-hours a week) is offered and our site qualifies for potential education reimbursement through programs focused on clinicians that serve specific populations, pending unrestricted license (HRSA).     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, special education, human growth and development, psychology, counseling, social work or a closely related field and two years of professional experience providing developmental, special education, intervention, treatment-oriented, child/adult care, and/or instructional guidance services for individuals who have or may be at risk for developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or related conditions; OR one year of experience as a Developmental Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education at or above a Bachelor's degree and experience as described above. Special Requirements Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Some positions require a valid driver's license at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
