    The Position

    Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.

    Under general direction of a Supervisory Personnel Analyst, performs complex, technical personnel functions involving recruitment, selection, testing, classification and compensation duties. Work is performed on complex projects such as comprehensive occupational studies. An incumbent in this class is expected to operate on an independent basis. This is the advanced journey level in the series.

    Under the general direction of the Supervisory Personnel Analyst, the position performs duties related to classification and compensation assignments which include conducting job evaluations and comparative analysis of individual classified positions; making recommendations on proper classification of positions; conducting class specification reviews and maintenance review studies; creating new classification specifications; completing compensation studies. Duties also include, but are not limited to, coordinating and conducting interviews with State employees and subject matter experts, determining classifications utilizing a broad spectrum of occupational groups and classifications, preparing written analyses, presenting decisions to incumbents and agency personnel, defending decisions before governing bodies, and other duties as assigned.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position may require up to 25% travel. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

    The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
