JOB DESCRIPTION
General Description and Classification Standards Responsible for fleet vehicles and equipment from the cradle to the grave to include requisitioning, receiving, assigning, commissioning, decommissioning, titling, and title management, registering, and surplusing. Also responsible for vehicle specifications and working with internal departments to provide the most efficient equipment options to meet their operational needs.
Supervision Received
Works independent and follows standardized policies, procedures, and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities The candidate will be required to conduct and oversee the following tasks:
- Work with internal departments and vendors to develop vehicle and equipment specifications
- Requisition and receive new vehicles and equipment
- Register and title new vehicles and equipment
- Maintain vehicle files and titles
- Commission and decommission vehicles and equipment
- Surplus and auction retired vehicles and equipment
- Assign and distribute vehicles and equipment to departments
- Assign unit numbers and input vehicle and equipment data into the Fleet Management System
- Work with external vendors to coordinate vehicle deliveries per the contract guidelines Inspect, operate, test and repair light duty, medium duty, and heavy-duty equipment for proper operation
- Issue and monitoring commercial fuel card usage, compliance, and reporting issues
- Maintain all city fuel sites and fuel deliveries

Leadership Provided
Will manage the Asset Management Section and assigned employees.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of modern automotive mechanical principles and procedures. Proficient with computers and standard fleet management software packages. Basic knowledge pf government procurement principles and procedures. Ability to read and comprehend property documentation to meet deadlines in a timely manner. Ability and desire to work in a positive, fast paced, and high energy environment Strong customer service and organizational skills required. Good written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree 5 years of fleet management experience
Preferred Education & Experience - 5-7 years of fleet management experience Prior technician/mechanic experience Licensures and Certifications
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License
