    DESCRIPTION

    The Department of Human Resources is seeking qualified applicants for a non-career, part-time, Clerk Typist III. This position provides clerical support to the Occupational Health and Safety workgroups within the Human Resources Department.

    Non-Career employees are allowed a maximum of 1,600 work hours available over a 12-month period and are considered temporary, at-will employees who are not typically eligible for benefits. However, non-career employees may qualify for health coverage and sick leave accruals subject to applicable federal and state provisions.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Schedule and perform live scan fingerprinting.
    • Liaise with the City Clerk’s office for coordination of the Oath of Allegiance for new hires.
    • Photograph new hires and transmit images for Employee ID Badge processing.
    • Act as backup to the clinic’s reception desk.
    • Types, edits, and formats correspondence, letters, and statistical data.
    • Composes routine memos and correspondence.
    • Compiles information and data for reports and memos.
    • Answers phones and takes accurate messages.
    • Places orders and processes invoices.
    • Responds to requests for information and directs inquiries appropriately.
    • Schedules appointments and trainings.
    • Opens, sorts, and distributes mail.
    • Maintains records and files.
    • Assists Human Resources Officer with special projects as needed.
    • Performs other related duties as required.


    REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to type neatly and accurately at a net speed of 40 words per minute.
    • Ability to file in alphabetical and numerical order.
    • Ability to make simple mathematical computations.
    • Ability to correct errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and the public.
    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    • Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to handle confidential issues in a professional manner.
    • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment and be punctual.
