    The Job

    The Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk (ARC) office is recruiting for Records Technician Supervisors I who provide oversight of recording, records research and County clerk practices. Records Technician Supervisors I are the first level of supervision within the Records Technician series and are responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating the work of Records Technicians and support staff. Essential duties include supervising staff; evaluating, preparing, and signing work performance evaluations; planning, organizing, and assigning legal document classifying tasks and related support operations of a section of the Recorder and Clerk division; identifying training needs and programs; assisting in developing and revising procedures; handling the more difficult problems; and researching and interpreting applicable data, laws, regulations and policies.

    COMPETITIVE SALARY & BENEFITS

    Annual Across the Board Salary Increases on February 2025/2026*
    Bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to Step 14


    * Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Travel Required: 1) Work locations may vary to meet departmental needs. 2) Incumbents will be required to provide their own transportation, be willing to travel to all locations as needed , and work some evenings and weekends. Mileage reimbursement is available. 3) Offices are located in Hesperia and San Bernardino. 4) A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained for the individual providing the transportation.

    Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

    Minimum Requirements

    REQUIRED (candidates must meet one of the following options) :

    OPTION 1
    Must possess one (1) year of work experience as a Senior Records Technician, or equivalent, within a California County Assessor, Recorder, or County Clerk’s office.
    OPTION 2

    Must possess two (2) years of work experience as a Records Technician, or equivalent, within a California County Assessor, Recorder, or County Clerk’s office.

    OPTION 3
    Must possess four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience processing legal or recordable documents in a legal court, government agency, or real estate, title, or similar office setting which includes 2 years of lead or 1 year of supervisory experience.
    IMPORTANT NOTES:
    Equivalent experience includes interpreting and applying government codes or policies related to document examining and/or processing of legal documents related to real and personal property titles, MARRIAGE LICENSES, Fictitious Business Names, and Vital Records in a California County Assessor, Recorder, or County Clerk's office.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal Candidate will have a thorough understanding of the laws, regulations, and policies governing the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk's office; will posses excellent leadership skills with the ability and knowledge mentor and develop staff; the technical expertise to tackle the most complex issues; and excellent communication skills to tactfully and courteously interact with the public while explaining specific information or regulations.
