    The Job

    This recruitment is only open to current San Bernardino County, Fire Department, or Special District employees who hold a regular, intern, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, or Work Experience Program (WEX) position.     San Bernardino County Human Resources is recruiting for detail-oriented and customer-focused Human Resources Technicians , to support the Western Region Item Bank (WRIB) within the Employment Division. WRIB is a cooperative employment testing resource serving public jurisdictions in the United States. The item bank contains over 60,000 test questions in 383 separate subject matter categories; WRIB members access these items to develop merit based employment examinations.

    The Human Resources (HR) Technician for WRIB will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to the WRIB members. The incumbent will also provide technical support to the division's staff in support of Countywide recruitment efforts. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Respond to WRIB member inquiries via phone and email, providing accurate information, support with utilizing the item bank to develop examinations
    • Edit and finalize test booklets based on member specifications and WRIB guidelines
    • Score tests and issue item analysis reports; review items and maintain the item bank, ensuring security and confidentiality of all test materials
    • Maintain membership logs, process annual membership renewals, and assist in the onboarding and training of new members.
    • Support the divisions recruitment efforts by participating in hiring events, participate in outreach efforts; provide clerical support to recruitment analyst with employment processes and a variety of division initiatives.

    Minimum Requirements

    Candidates must meet one of the following options:

    Option 1: One (1) year of full-time work experience with primary responsibility for performing a wide variety of specialized clerical duties in support of Human Resources or Personnel functions.

    -OR-

    Option 2: Two (2) years of full-time work experience performing a wide variety of specialized office clerical duties, which are non-routine in nature and require independent decision making.

    **Experience under both options must include extensive customer service experience responding to inquiries for information, providing solutions, and explaining rules, regulations and procedures.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will be a dedicated customer service representative who excels in providing top-notch customer service and can effectively explain processes and procedures via phone, email, and chat in a timely manner. This role is essential for promoting customer satisfaction and fostering a positive experience with WRIB members, while ensuring they understand how to navigate our services. Essential skills include the ability to work independently, assess situations, identify issues, and propose effective solutions; strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; and discretion when handling confidential information. An Associates degree or higher is desired, although not required.
