    The City of Brentwood Human Resources (HR) Department is an innovative and diverse team that supports 340 full-time and ~200 limited-service employees. The Department is responsible for: talent management, benefits administration, classification and compensation, employee engagement, risk management, wellness, people relations, performance management, as well as workforce development and training. The Department is staffed with seven full-time positions and one limited-service position encompassing: Director of Human Resources/Risk Manager, Human Resources Manager, two Analysts, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, Human Resources Specialist, Human Resources Assistant II, and Administrative Assistant I (limited-service).

    The Department is seeking to fill the Human Resources Specialist with someone who is able to excel in a fast-paced environment with a customer-focused approach and a boundless ability to pivot quickly across various HR functions and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, reliable, conscientious, efficient, and an innovative team player who has broad human resources knowledge and a successful track record in talent acquisition, HRIS support, benefits administration, HR metrics, and recruitment & selection.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    Education/Training:
    • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by two years of college level course work in human resources or a related field.

    Experience:
    • Two years of increasingly responsible technical and office support experience in a human resources environment.

    License or Certificate:
    • Possession of an appropriate driver's license may be required.

    The examination process may consist of a combination of:
    • Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
    • Written Exam - Applicants possessing these requirements will be invited to take the written test. The examination will cover elements of the knowledge and abilities identified in the job description and is tentatively scheduled for the week of November 4.
    All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
