Position Information The Parks and Recreation Department is now recruiting for a part-time Park Maintenance Worker I. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as a member of a team providing a wide range of services. Incumbentswill need to lead by example; demonstrate high ethical standards; remain visible and approachable and interact with others on a regular basis. This current position is not to exceed 1,000 hours per fiscal year and works primarily on weekends. Though this position will include options to work with full time staff in the off months, the main focus for this position will be during the picnic rental season from April 1st through October 31st, typically with the hours from 6:00am to 2:30pm with a 30 min lunch. Primary duties include: Cleaning of all park restrooms including toilets, sinks and restocking all supplies. Emptying all garbage in the reserved parks as well as high use parks throughout the city. Cleaning of the amenities in the parks such as picnic tables, benches, etc. Wash down reserved picnic locations. Post signs for reservations. Clean the BBQ's. General litter cleanup throughout the park and parking lots. Assisting with cleanup from special events downtown. Assisting Parks standby should any assistance be requested. Work on holidays that have picnic rentals. This recruitment may be used to fill career fulltime positions in the future but the current opening is for on limited service, part time only. Experience: Six months of work experience in the maintenance and repair of parks, landscaped areas, street medians and janitorial work. License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate driver's license. A Qualified Applicators Certificate issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation may be required for some positions. Position Information The City of Brentwood, the only municipal solid waste collector in the county, is seeking an individual with a Class A or B license to safely operate refuse collection vehicles to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling within a prescribed time. Other responsibilities include unloading refuse trucks at a transfer station, or similar facility, providing extremely high level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of operation to the general public and customers, exhibiting a positive attitude towards customers and co-workers alike and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspection and cleaning, as well as performing other related work as assigned. The current open position isan at-will, part time, temporary position, has no guarantee of hours and will not work over 1,000 hours per fiscal year. This position willbackfillfor regular, full time drivers when they are on vacation, out sick or otherwise unable to complete their assigned service route. Regular shift start times range from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday.
