The Position
Compliance/Audit Investigators perform investigative and auditing functions to monitor compliance and detect violations of federal and/or State laws or regulations pertaining to a specific program or regulatory area such as securities, Medicaid, mortgage lending, or workers' compensation. Investigators allocated to this series do not require P.O.S.T. certification.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is located in the Carson City office of the Division of Industrial Relations, Workers' Compensation Section. The incumbent will be a Compliance Audit Investigator II in the Insurer/TPA Compliance Unit. This position requires the incumbent to conduct compliance audits of insurer and third-party administrator workers' compensation claim files, verify compensation calculations, conduct complaint investigations, write comprehensive audit reports and determinations, and assess administrative fines pursuant to NRS and NAC 616A through D and 617, and in accordance with Division guidelines; conduct employer site visits; interview injured employees and employer personnel; testify during administrative and/or criminal hearings when necessary; provide employer outreach or training, which requires public speaking. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, business management, accounting, or related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience in an auditing or program-related position equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III or Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of state and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; or maintaining financial records related to revenues and expenses, grants, budgets, purchases, and/or accounts; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Moderate travel is required. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
