    Chancellor's Office Statement

We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Systemwide Digital Library Content Analytics and Collection Assessment Manager. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. The CSU Chancellor's Office offers a premium benefit package that includes outstanding vacation, health, and dental plans; a fee waiver education program; membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); and 15 paid holidays a year.

    Salary

    The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $7,000 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    The salary range for this classification is $3,938 to $11,703 per month.

    Position Information

    The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Systemwide Digital Library Content Analytics and Collection Assessment Manager to lead and manage systemwide data analysis projects and processes to support decision-making for systemwide library electronic resource collections and ensure that mandated statistical reports are accurate, complete, and timely. The SDLC Analytics and Collection Assessment Manager conducts in-depth analysis of varied library collections and publishing data, such as usage statistics, financial information, qualitative data, and open access publishing information to guide strategy and communicate with campus library leadership. The Manager leads systemwide analysis projects, working collaboratively with CSU campus library personnel and SDLC and Systemwide Digital Library Services (SDLS) colleagues to support evidence-based decision making on library collections and services.

    This position is approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office (in-person)) with onsite work at the main headquarters located in Long Beach, California.

    Responsibilities

    Under the general direction of the Director of Systemwide Digital Library Content, the Systemwide Digital Library Content Analytics and Collection Assessment Manager will perform duties as outlined below:

    Lead, Manage, and Oversee Systemwide Library Resource Collections Analysis Projects and Processes across the CSU System:

    -Manage and execute systemwide library resource collection analysis projects, ensuring completion of projects within defined timelines and performance metrics.

    -Manage the collection, analysis, management, and display of SDLC collections data, including usage statistics, financial information, title lists, campus survey data, and open access publishing information.

    -Collect, analyze, manage, and report systemwide quantitative and qualitative data and usage statistics for collections resources.

    -Determine appropriate assessment methods for different collection analysis activities, such as new resource exploration, overlap analysis, or user feedback, and carry out data collection for use in collection decisions, negotiations, and strategies. Manage and oversee assessment projects.

    -Manage and execute in-depth analysis projects of varied systemwide collections and publishing data, creating reports to guide strategy, collections decisions, communicate with CSU library leadership, and inform negotiation of systemwide library resource agreements.

    -Manage all data requirements for CSU systemwide library statistics, Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and IPEDs statistics, and other required reporting that includes library data, ensuring that reports are accurate, complete, and timely. To properly include campus data in systemwide reporting, provide leadership, management, and guidance to CSU campus representatives.

    -Implement and enhance automatic processes for capturing, storing, and delivering collections data, including, but not limited to, standardized (COUNTER) reports for electronic resource usage.

    -Manage projects to analyze and assess the value and impact of open access and transformative agreements, in addition to traditional subscription agreements.

    Serve as Primary Contact to Campus Library Personnel Regarding Campus Data for Systemwide Library Resource Collections Analysis Projects:

    -Annually, manage the systemwide library data collection process, communicating with campus representatives, setting appropriate timelines, and monitoring progress.

    -Analyze, resolve, and manage responses to inquiries and issues from campus librarians and staff regarding collection assessment, Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and IPEDs statistical reporting, and systemwide library statistical reporting.

    -Serve as a resource, providing training as needed, to campus librarians and staff on the use of shared analytical tools for collection assessment and statistical reporting.

    Represents SDLC on Relevant CSU Systemwide Library Committees

    -Represent SDLC on relevant CSU-wide committees, including serving as the primary SDLC representative on the systemwide Shared Resources & Digital Content (SRDC) Collection Analytics committee and/or the systemwide Unified Library Management System (ULMS) Assessment & Analytics committee, participating in discussions and providing expertise on behalf of SDLC.

    Other duties as assigned

    -Other tasks as assigned by the Director of SDLC for successful completion of SDLC and CSU libraries’ goals.

    Qualifications

    This position requires:

    -A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required.

    -A minimum of 5 years of related experience in any combination of data and statistical analysis and/or library electronic resource management and/or collection development, analysis, and assessment, including independent project management, is required.

    -Experience with one or more data analysis tools or approaches and one or more aspects of library collections.

    -Strong knowledge of the role of assessment in collection processes and decision making and experience selecting data sources relevant to collections analysis.

    -Experience preparing reports that make data understandable for a wide range of audiences.

    -Ability to work on multiple assignments and tasks and be able to adjust to change quickly.

    -Proactive and able to work in a team environment while understanding the roles and responsibility of fellow team members.

    -Effectively interface with fellow employees and management at all levels.

    -Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

    -Must be flexible yet focused, have the ability to follow up and follow through, and the initiative to see the need.

    -Ability to function independently with a minimum amount of supervision, be organized, able to prioritize, recognize conflicts, and the ability to seek or recommend resolutions.

    -Must have an appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace and experience working effectively with a diverse population of individuals with different cultural and ethnic backgrounds and abilities.

    -Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, faculty and staff representing diverse ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, and learning abilities. Must have knowledge of digital accessibility and disability inclusion.

    Preferred Qualifications

    -Experience working with e-resource and publishing data in an academic library, consortium, or library vendor is preferred.

    -Knowledge of processes and software tools for analyzing, drawing insight from, reporting, and/or visualizing data. Experience utilizing Alma and Primo Analytics and familiarity with COUNTER reports and open access publishing data is preferred.
