    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent. Five (5) years experience in routing, design, and construction of an electric utility’s transmission system, or in a field related to the job.

    This position will assist the Development Assistance Support ( DAS ) team in managing multiple tasks and improvements to the DAS work group including tracking and creating shared spreadsheets to monitor work analytics, monitor technical enhancement service tickets to Amanda, ABC Portal, Bookings Application and CDP . This position will be a lead and assist with managing daily operations of DAS field personnel and DAS review teams, revising outdated documents, distribute and monitor task lists, and provide training for new employees.

    Critical:

    This position has been designated as a Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and supports activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.

    • Knowledge of the Austin Energy Design Criteria, specifically the residential electric service sections and required clearances from AE facilities.
    • Knowledge of the electric service process.
    • Knowledge of the COA residential building process and inspections process.
    • Skill in working with numerous computer programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
    • Skill in using Amanda to navigate permit information and information about sites under construction.
    • Ability to learn and test technological enhancements or improvements to existing computer systems.
    • Ability to make decisions for updates or changes to policies and criteria based on code changes, updates to NEC or based on internal and external feedback.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Coordinates and reviews work practices, develop designs and analyze GIS systems and makes recommendations for operations in the distribution construction process. Provides direct oversight of construction and maintenance activities performed by Austin Energy personnel and contracted staff by reviewing work requests, determining appropriate personnel to complete assigned projects and monitoring the completion and if necessary, perform work assigned. Establishes and maintains a customer perspective for all services provided to in-house clients by providing updates, reports, presentations and documentation as requested. Meets deadlines and quality expectations in a cost effective manner by monitors project budget and track expenditures, personnel and materials are available to met work orders. Alerts supervision to any deviations from the approved cost projections. Provide assistance in reviewing and updating policies and procedures of assigned area. Monitor any changes to construction or systems changes in the industry to ensure best practices are applied.

    • Skill in applying established and standard construction, maintenance techniques.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Skill in using computers, current mapping software, citywide GIS projects, and related software applications.
    • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.

    • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.

    • Ability to lead assigned team(s) involved in distribution construction activities.

    City Government
